Vainagiai castle mound surrounded by swamps dates back to the beginning of the second millennium. Local people say that the hill has been made by hands, and there used to be a wood-paved trail through it. Archaeological research has shown that Vainagiai mound has never been inhabited, and the boulders found on it indicate that there could have been a shrine here. During the interwar period, the locals organised get-togethers, while the amateurs of forest district showed theatre performances.
