Formerly there was a sacred oak grove beside the Puntukas boulder. Many legends were created about these oaks: there used to be altars and sacrifices made to Gods, people used to pray here and hang crosses. These Sacred Oaks were mentioned by the literary classics A. Baranauskas and A. Vienuolis-Žukauskas. Only two sacred oaks remained up to the present day. One of the oaks collapsed after the storm in 1990 but Anykščiai forest ranger A. Urbšys together with R. Nečiūnas replanted it. The Sacred Oaks is a protected natural landscape object of the Anykščiai District Municipality.
