Tamožinė oak grows in the southern part of the Tamožinė forest. The oak is about 150-200 years old, 1.50 m in diameter, 4.64 m in circumference and 31.5 m in height. It is branched into two trunks. The oak is called the lord of the trees and is seen as a symbol of longevity, wisdom, strength and endurance. It is believed that the oak grove had an old Lithuanian temple in prehistoric times. Various legends are known about this forest and the oak grove in it. It is said that during the holidays, there were appearances of ghosts and storms in the forest. Others say that devils came from the Tamožinė forest and outplayed all the shepherds. The girls who had not been married for a long time were to be taken to the forest of Tamožinė and given to the foxes. Tamožinė forest is located in the lower reaches of the Salantas hydrographic reserve. It is one of the largest mature forest massifs in the Salantai Regional Park.
