The unique composition of the millstones, the bowl-shaped stones give this place an exceptional peculiarity. This is the result of the long-term work of Jonas Žilevičius, a local historian from Krekenava, and other like-minded people. An honorary citizen of Panevėžys district and doctor Jonas Žilevičius, post-war partisans and deportees are buried in the cemetery. Cows were grazed in the cemetery only several decades ago. Now here are built chapel pillars, monuments, memorial stones, immortalized book carriers, volunteers, deportees, the 585th and 600th anniversaries of Krekenava to commemorate the events of our history. Monuments to mothers, book carriers, deportees, volunteers, partisans were built and decorated with millstones. The Open-Air Museum combines both Christian and pagan symbols. There is a place for pagan priest in the cemetery. He is guarding a sacred fire next to the bowl-shaped stones.
