Near Šilalė, in the 16th–17th centuries, there was an old pagan temple with a hearth and a stone altar. A round stone with roughly hewn sides and a flat-bottomed hollow was found here. When the temple was destroyed, the altar was thrown into a pit dug nearby, but it was restored to its original location during research. Further away, on the slope of the hill, there is another stone with a hollow, which was also used for cult rituals. In addition, fields with stone fences and cairns dating back to early agriculture (used in the 1st–2nd millennia) have been found in this area.
