The mound in the territory of the castle of the Trakai peninsula, on the shore of Lake Luka is called Aukos Hill. The mound dates back to the 14th century. The mound is a part of the Trakai Peninsula Castle, the construction which dates back to the 14th century. The castle of Trakai Peninsula was one of the residences of the Grand Duke, an integral part of the defense complex of the city of Trakai and the capital Vilnius. After Vytautas' death, the Great Castle became the residence of Dukes Švitrigaila and Žygimantas Kęstutaitis. During the war in 1655 the castle was destroyed and only in 19th century restoration work of the defensive complex was undertaken.
