The hill fortress is one kilometre away from the village of Pavištytis. The mound dates back to the 1st millennium. At its western and southern sides, the hill fortress is adjacent to swampy hollows. At its eastern and northern sides it is adjacent to higher meadows. The northern and eastern slopes are not so steep at the base but become steeper at the upper part. The western and southern slopes are very steep. At the top of the hill fortress is an oval-shaped open space 80 metres long and 30 metres wide. At the top and on the sides there are the remains of partly caved-in trenches. No cultural layer has been detected. In a field used for agriculture on the southern slope, shards of terra cotta have been found. Lake Grabauskas lies at the foot of the hill fortress on the northern side. From the mound you can see beautiful views of Lake Vištytis and Rominta Grove.
