It is believed that the first kenesa was built in 1397 in the time of Vytautas the Great. During wars and fires, the kenesa was repeatedly destroyed, burned, but always restored. At the beginning of the 19th century, the kenesa was reconstructed, a tower-lamp was installed on the roof, and the roof was covered with tin. It is believed that the interior wall paintings were created during that period and have survived to this day. This sacral building reflects the ethnic features of Karaitė architecture and interior decoration. The building belongs to the Lithuanian Karaitė religious community.
