Jurakalnis spur is a typical form of terrain formed by linear erosion. The process of linear erosion and its consequences – the erosive spur itself, the ridges and ditches where the springs are found - are clearly visible here. The most geologically valuable are the Jurassic rock outcrops, which are naturally accessible for research due to intense erosion. From the observation tower, a magnificent view of the Venta valley and its terraces can be viewed.
Please be informed that although it is once again possible to walk along the section of the Jurakalnis Geological Nature Trail connecting the Papilė I Mound and the Jurakalnis Observation Tower via the unnamed stream, descending the stairs from the tower down towards the Venta River or the unnamed stream is still forbidden due to the risk of landslides, the damaged foundations and the damaged stone path. We apologise for any inconvenience.
Safety is paramount, so we encourage visitors to be aware of this and to visit other attractions of the Venta or other regional parks in the near future.
