Establishment objectives

The Nemunas Landscape Reserve protects the landscape of the broken valley of the middle Nemunas River with its unique landforms and hydrographic network, typical villages of the Pan-Memunian Dukes, archaeological and historical values, ecosystems of hornbeam valley forests, habitats of meadows, marshes and forests of European Community importance, populations of protected animal species (otter, otter, tule, salamander, hammerhead shrike, cartwheel, osprey, red and black kestrels, and least tern.
