Objectives of establishment

The Lyduvėnai Landscape Reserve protects the unique complex of cross-river ravines on the left side of the middle valley of the Dubysa River, the Kalniškiai village surroundings, the meanders of the Dubysa River bed and the old riverbed, deep, narrow, The heavily branched erosion complex of the Dratvinis, the meandering riverbed of the lower Lapišė River, forests of European Community importance (herbaceous spruce forests, ravine forests and slope forests) and meadows (steppe meadows, species-rich pastures and grazing meadows, hay meadows, mesophytic grasslands) with habitats of protected plant and animal species, in particular the three-leaved bird's-foot trefoil, the Baltic cuckoo, the moss and male cuckoo, the green-leaved cuckoo, the plum, the blue-eyed gentian, the tartar mallows, the salmon, the shrike, the tule, the otter, and the blood-headed bluebell, the complex of the Lyduvėnai hillforts, and the Lyduvėnai railway bridge, which is the highest railway bridge in Lithuania.
