Objectives of establishment
The Luknė Geomorphological Reserve protects the wide erosional valley of the Dubysa River with its distinctive erosional valleys of left tributaries and finely dissected right slopes, the riverbed of the Dubysa River with fragments of old river channels, meadows of European importance (steppe meadows, species-rich pastures and grazing meadows, hay meadows with mesophytic vegetation) and forests (grass-rich spruce forests, scrub forests, ravine and slope forests) with protected plant and animal species, especially blue gentian, red and white helleborines, green-winged orchids, marsh marigolds, tulips, buttercups, sedges, rushes, bloodroot, bluebells, and the habitats of the great capricorn beetle, southern pearl-bordered fritillary, and meadow brown butterfly, Padubysio hillfort.
