Establishment Objectives
The Karvaičiai Landscape Reserve protects the picturesque natural complex of the Karvaičiai landscape area, featuring the highest dunes of the Great Dune Ridge on the Lithuanian side of the Curonian Spit — Vecekrugas, Karvaičiai, and Preila dunes — as well as the prominent coastal capes, the hilly and hollowed lagoon-side plains, the forested hilly and flat coastal meadows, the protective dune ridge along the seashore, and sandy areas. It also safeguards habitats for plant and animal species listed in the Lithuanian Red Book, as well as habitats of European Community importance.
