The village is located between the tributary of the river Gauja Berželis and the highlands on the north side. Historical sources mention that already in 1385 the name Dieveniškės was mentioned by the reconnaissance of the Teutonic Order, the manor was already here - the feudal center of the surrounding territories, it is not disputed that Žižmi village also entered the manor estates. The oldest known historical document commemorating Žižmus in 1737 states that 7 families lived in the village. The number of homesteads increased significantly in the second half of the 18th century (in 1775 there were already 13 of them). By the middle of the 19th century, before the abolition of serfdom, the village was already fully formed. Since the mention of the village in historical sources from the beginning of the 18th century, the name of Shilabrite has been mentioned until now. Before the Second World War, there was a private 4th grade primary school under the auspices of the "Rytas" Society, a branch of the St. Casimir Society, and a Lithuanian reading room.
