Because of its beauty and size, it is known as the Cathedral of Dzūkija. The church was completed in 1817 during the reign of Viktorija Oginskaitė Žynevienė. In the basement of the church there is a crypt of the founders, where the remains of the landlords Žynevas and Oginskis are buried. Every year on 6 August, the Feast of the Transfiguration takes place. Next to the church is the bell tower, which contains the oldest brass bell in the district, cast in 1650.
