Varnupiai mound with an ancient settlement. In this territory between the Žuvintas and Amalva bogs, people lived already in the Stone Age. It is believed that it was built by human hands, a lot of wood was used. Archaeological finds attributed to the Yotvingian culture, dating back to the 1st millennium - 13th century, have been found on the territory of the mound. Varnupiai mound with an ancient settlement is the most significant and largest archaeological monument of the Žuvintas Biosphere Reserve. This place is loved by lovers of living history and archaeology of the region.
