The origin and rise of the Ugioniai Shrine is linked to the miraculous spring, over which a wooden chapel was built in the 19th century. On 28 November 1657, someone saw a painting of the Virgin Mary above the spring. This was the beginning of the visit to Ugioniai, a holy place.
