Several years of the poet's childhood passed in Maironis' birthplace Pasandravis, where his first impressions of nature and the world were formed. The beautiful meanders of the Sandrava and Luknė rivers and the valleys of the Dubysa probably inspired Maironis to sing about his homeland and its exceptional beauty. A museum has been established in the poet's birthplace in Bernotai. A footpath connects the homesteads of Pasandravis and Bernotas.
