The construction of the church, completed in 1792, was funded by Jokūbas Nagurskis, the owner of Kurtuvėnai Manor. The author of the project was the pioneer of Classicism in Lithuania, architect Martynas Knakfusas. The interior of the church has the moderation of Classicism, but you can also see some elements of the late Baroque. To this day, there is an organ created in 1796 and the painting of St. Apostol Jacob painted at the end of the 18th century. Under the church, there are large vaults where the founder of the church Jokūbas Nagurskis is buried.
