The mound is located on the western shore of Lake Šlavantas, at the mouth of the unnamed stream. At the south-western foot of the mound there was an ancient settlement, where rough and rusty pottery was found. The settlement, like the hillfort, was inhabited in the 1st millennium and early 2nd millennium. The slopes of the Šlavantų mound are covered with scrubland with rare plants such as medicinal hardwoods. In the inter-war period and after World War II, young people from the area used to organise outings on the mound.
