The trail winds along the 12,000-year-old Škėvonys ridge. Ridge is an "island" on land. The unique Škėvonys ridge lasts for almost 3 km. Its width is less than 100 m at its narrowest point and just over 400 m at its widest point. At the place where the waters of Nemunas are intensively destroying the slope of the ridge, an outcrop has formed which is 31 m in height and more than 0.5 km in lenght. The outcrop reveals layers of sediments from the last two glacial and interglacial periods. The outcrop looks beautiful, but it is best to look at it while sailing through Nemunas river or from the opposite bank of the river, Giraitiškės resort. The outcrop has an observation deck, which opens spectacular views of the Nemunas and its valley. The sunny meadow of Panemunė is home to very rare species of butterflies.
