According to the old inhabitants of Šiauliai, once upon a time, serfs were fought on this pine branch. This is probably the reason why a chapel later appeared on the trunk. The Šaukėnai pine tree is 21 metres tall and the trunk is over 3 metres long. The tree is very old and has many dead branches, but it is still very much alive. It is a state-protected botanical natural heritage site.
