It is a botanical natural heritage site. Salakas pine is a common pine (Pinus sylvestris L.). The size of the trunk of the tree is 1.3 m at a height of 3.35 m, the height is 27 m. The tree is over 200 years old. A wooden cross with the inscription "1927" was nailed on the trunk. The Earl Jurgis Žiunienas of Luodžiai manor was selling the land of his estate as he prepared to leave for France. Some of the peasants of Salakas belonged to his estate and were called "luodykščiais". In 1927, the Earl donated several hectares of land to the pine tree. The peasants gratefully held a feast. A cross was nailed to a pine tree to commemorate this event. Other pines, which grew nearby, were cut down over time and left with a cross.
