Pūkste hill is located in Barstyčiai forest. The area of the natural monument is 10,218 ha. It is a large elongated ridge extending from east to-west. Its height is 15 m, length is 150 m, width is 90 m. A triangulation tower was installed on Pūkste Hill. Here is the highest place in Skuodas district - 171 m above sea level. Old people say that during the uprising of Tadas Kosciuszko in 1794, a school of Lithuanian and Polish soldiers was built there. At the top of the hill was a tall tower from which the rebels followed the Russian movement day and night. The Russians could not notice the tower because there was a good pine tree standing next to it. Our rebels buried their treasury 9 barrels of gold in this mountain. No one could enter the place where the money was buried because the mountain was very large. At night, various ghosts fly on that mountain. They are screaming and frightening those who have come to look the money.
