The antiquity of Poškonys is shown by archeological monuments, the structure of the village plan and the unique position of ancient settlements according to the Gauja stream. A kilometer southeast of the village is a group of 24 burial mounds dating back to the 5th-6th centuries. This shows that people lived in these areas as early as the first millennium. In historical sources, Poškonys is first mentioned in 1713 in the acts of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. At that time, the village belonged to the manor of Arlaviščiai (Orlavciškės), which was then owned by the landowner Jonas Žemiai. According to a 1713 document, there were 5 homesteads in the village. Poškonis mentioned in this inventory was probably the descendant of the oldest family who lived and gave the name to the village. According to the layout of the homesteads and buildings, the village was started from one street, built on one side only. The old street is architecturally and historically valuable. The homesteads were built in the late 19th century, early 20th century.
