This intersection of three state borders is located three kilometers south of Lake Vištytis. On September 27, 1422, the Meln Treaty established the border between Lithuania-Poland states and East Prussia, and also established the intersection point. Later it became redundant as Poland and Lithuania became part of the Russian Empire. During the interwar period, the Lithuanian-Polish border wasn't demarcated, so the intersection point was not officially legalized. The current intersection was established in Vilnius by a tripartite agreement in 2005 October 27. There are only 134 intersections of three states around the world.
