The Hagen Height is the highest dune in Smiltynė, reaching 36 meters. At the end of the 19th century, F. L. Hagen led the afforestation efforts of the northern part of the Curonian Spit. In 1936, the residents of the Klaipėda Region erected a stone obelisk in his memory. During World War II, the height gained strategic importance, as evidenced by the trenches left by the German army and the foundations of buildings once used for military purposes.
