Motiejus Kazimieras Valančius (1801–1875), a public and church figure, writer, and bishop, was born and raised in the village of Nasrėnai. Visitors to the homestead are greeted by a sculpture of Juozapas Viskontas (Palangos Juzė), a literary character from M. Valančius' literary character Juozapas Viskontas (Palangos Juzė) from his work Palangos Juzė, inviting them to visit the museum, which displays the bishop's personal belongings, documents, books written by and about him, and characters from M. Valančius. Opposite the homestead, an oak grove was planted in 1995 to mark the 200th anniversary of the bishop's birth, and in 2001 a monument to Bishop Motiejus Valančius was unveiled (sculptor Kęstutis Balčiūnas, architect Edmundas Giedrimas, builder Stasys Vaičius).
