At the museum, located in the center of the town, you will see a contemporary exhibition showing the lives of people in the land from the Stone Age to modern times. Here you will have the opportunity to touch the bell of Merkinė Town Hall, hear stories about the days of Merkinė Castle and the city, the death of King V.Vaza in Merkinė in 1648, the attack on the Merkinė by Lithuanian guerrillas in 1945 and other stories of this land. The Merkinė Museum includes V. Krėvė Mickevičius Memorial Museum in Subartonys and the Perloja History Museum.
