Juozas Urbsiš spent his childhood and youth in the village of Zaosė. He was known as Minister of Foreign Affairs, diplomat and translator of the last interwar period of Lithuania, who survived the brutal repressions of the Soviet era. In 2008, Juozas Urbšys’ nephew Povilas Urbšys donated the homestead to the state. In 2009, a hundred-year-old homestead was restored. The residential building was restored attempting to maintain authenticity of the building. In the former hut in 2009-2010. an exposition was created reflecting the life of Juozas Urbšys and his family. Since March 18, 2009, the Juozas Urbšys’ center of public thought and culture has been operating in the Minister’s homestead. Historic conferences are held annually in the homestead. The Republican Festival of Poetic Spring is held under the oak of Urbšys. There is a parking lot near the homestead.
