Gliding school opened in 1933. It was located right next to the Great Dune, whose height was 60 meters. Gliding school opened from 1933 to 1939. Here, a total of 508 pilots were prepared. At the end of the War, schools‘ buildings were burnt down and, in 1978, on the remains of the former hangar arch marking the place of the gliding school was built. In 1998, the remembrance stone for the gliders was opened.
