Lake Plocis has long been called the perceived name of the Plazė. However, linguists have long ago decided that the real name of this lake is Plocis, from the Curonian word meaning "flat". The average depth of Lake Plocis is about 70 cm. The lake in the nature reserve is not suitable for recreational purposes. The 3-hectare lake closest to the sea was loved by cormorants, that established a colony of over 1,000 nests in the surrounding black alders. You can find out more about these birds at the information stand.
