More than 250 hills are counted in Aukštadvaris. They are crowned by the highest-Gedanonys hill, rising 257.4 m above sea level. At the intersection of important roads: to Trakai through the Aukštadvaris, Kaišiadorys through the Vaitkūnai, Alytus through Užuguostis, the hill has always been as a landmark for travellers. People in the Gedanonys neighborhood remember that in the late nineteenth century, soldiers of the Tsar Army “zimagoros” installed a wooden tower - “mayak” - on a hill for military purposes. A radio-TV tower, now inoperable, was built nearby on the hill during the Soviet era.
