The Forest Museum first opened its doors to visitors in 1962. The history of the establishment of the museum is related to the then Director of Forestry Enrik Juzeliūnas, who had the horns of the ancient Lithuanian forest animal, found on the slopes of Dubysa. These horns were about 2000 years old - an extremely rare and interesting exhibit, appreciated by prof. Tado Ivanausko. The horns were donated to the Kaunas Zoological Museum, and in return a group of specialists were sent to Tytuvėnai to work on the exhibits for about two months
