Dūkštai oak grove is a unique place. It is one of the largest and oldest natural oak groves that have remained in Lithuania to this day. It covers an area of as much as 300 hectares. Most of the oaks there are over 200 years old. Due to the rarity of oak habitats and their characteristic species in Europe and Lithuania, the territory is of international importance. Dūkštai oak forest is also special from a natural point of view. As many as 77 rare and protected species of animals, plants, lichens and mushrooms have been found here and 5 types of natural habitats of European Community importance have been identified.
