One of the main bird migration paths of Europe goes through the Curonian Spit. During the spring and autumn migration seasons, tens of thousands of birds fly above the peninsula. There are six waterfowl-watching towers arranged alongside the Curonian Lagoon. The best time for birdwatching is spring, when reeds are still low and do not overshadow the lagoon full of birds that have just returned.
