This natural geological monument was designated in 1974. This was formed at the start of an ice age from sediments of an ancient ocean seabed. The slope supporting the Balbieriskis Outcrop is unstable. In the northern overgrown forest there is a deep river bed with rocks exposed on its slope. Much visited and researched by natural scientists, the Outcrop offers the view of one of the most beautiful landscapes in Lithuania. The writers Tumas Vaizgantas and Kazys Boruta spoke of the powerful impression made on them by these steep slopes.
