A small (29.4 ha) Bakanauskas swamp with a residual lake of Bakanauskas (4.2 ha) is surrounded by continental dunes. The Bakanauskas Lake itself and the swamp formed as it grew up were due to termonary phenomena – when an ice chip melted, pulling the glacier buried under the plaque. Such small marshes are very characteristic of the sandy plains of Dainava. From the edge of the swamp to the lake, a walkway has been built to see the diversity of the wetlands' flora, and to admire the colours and smells of the swamps.
