The Aukštumala Cognitive Trail (in the Aukštumala Telmological Reserve) has been lengthened by almost 350 m after reconstruction (now the length of the trail in one direction is 1200 m). The visitors will get acquainted with the bog, its formation, plants and animals characteristic of the high bog.
The former loft winds its way. This is the 18th century legacy: a road built across the swamp to connect several already existing wetland villages. At that time, there were almost 2,000 inhabitants of the wetlands, some of whom, like the pioneers of the Bismarckian colony, grew potatoes and other vegetables and exported them to East Prussia, while others worked in the peat bog.
