The present building was built in 1932, but the mill stood there at the end of the 19th century. The red brick, three-storey building with a basement was built after the former wooden building was burned down and until World War II was owned by Papilė businessman Vilkas, who was engaged in grain, linseed and flour trade. The mill was powered by the current of the River Venta, but later on it was equipped with a diesel engine – so that it can grind both during summer droughts and during winter frost when the water in the river is reduced. Water turbine, two millstones, Swedish grit grinding machine, sieve, Swedish transmission, wooden ferry for lifting cargo survived to this day.
