It is believed that this defensive fortification was built by the landlords in the 17th-18th centuries. It is certain that the fortification was used during the war with Sweden and Russia (1701 - 1721). It is located 0,3 kilometres north of Lake Vainežeris. The locals say that in 1812 there were French trenches on this hill, called 'Okopka', which is why it is called 'Okopka Hill'. In 1863, rebels were hiding here.
