On the terrace of the left bank of the Minija River, in the Šilpelkė Forest, there is the old cemetery of Dauginčių village (Maro kapeliai, Senkapiai), where people were buried during years of plague and other epidemics. At the end of the 18th century, when burials began to take place only in parish cemeteries, until the middle of the 20th century, unbaptized babies, suicides, unidentified drowned people, and others were buried in the old cemeteries. Since ancient times, crosses and shrines have been erected there. To this day, during May devotions, the living gather in cemeteries to pray for their deceased ancestors and sing hymns. Opposite the cemetery stands the Dauginčių hillfort, known as Pilale or Mėnulio kalnas (Moon Mountain), and at the confluence of the Minija and Slinkupis rivers stands another Dauginčių hillfort, known as Pilimi, dating back to the 1st millennium.
